Stellantis Confirms US Production of Midsize Truck and Dodge Durango After Trump Talks

Stellanti’s has made the latest announcement to its employees in a memo unveiling future manufacturing projects in the US after John Elkann conducted a meeting with US President Trump. They have committed to reopening the Belvidere, Illinois production facility to build a new midsize pickup for the upcoming year 2027, later confirmed by the press release on Sunday by United Auto Workers (UAW). 

It is believed to be a RAM model yet not been confirmed. The following plan was initially unveiled in November 2023 but got a halt last summer, now it’s reinstated. It further claims the reinvention of the far pending Dodge Durango to be processed in Detroit, additionally some investment in Toledo and Kokomo. 

In the recent meeting conducted between John Elkann and US President Trump, the announcement highlighted Stellanti’s plans, the senior company official cites that “Our plans, focused on increasing market share and growing sales volume, include a multibillion-dollar investment in our people, great products, and innovative technology, all here in the US.” 

Rehiring of displaced workers!

The memo highlights the Sellantis plans upon rehiring, around 1,500 displaced workers back for the Belvidere assembly unit. The timeline is yet not confirmed in the letter but it highlights that Stellanti’s is moving forward to pursue its far-pending $1.5 billion promised investment in the 2023 contract with (UAW) in Belvidere.

The reinvention of the Dodge Durango in Detroit!

The Dodge Durango is set to experience its far-pending reinvention in Detroit, as it was rumored that Stellanti’s to pursue its production outside the US. The rumors took a halt after (UAW) got into a warm argument with Stellanti’s about the violation of the labor contract signed in November 2023. After months of dispute, the union agreed on a resolution with the company.

However, Carscoops mentions that “We reached out to Stellantis for details on the production of the new midsize truck and the next-generation Dodge Durango, but a company spokesperson declined to provide any comment.”
