Height (77.4 inches) and Width (81.2 inches) resemble each other, offering an unbiased character for their commanding personality over coarse and buttered tarmac.
Then what’s different? Both the trucks deviate on their configurability. The Ramcharger anchors you with a crew-cab featuring a 5.7 foot bed with no exceptions. It could be your sweet spot, however, the Ramcharger lacks the flexibility of the Ram 1500, which is offered in a Quad cab with a 6.4-foot bed or the crew cab with any of the two bed sizes.
For the shoppers like weekend thrillers and contractors requiring a specific configuration, the gas truck variety got an edge. However, the approach angle for Ramcharger takes the lead at 19.9 degrees. While the 4×4 crew cab model of the gas-powered 1500 features an approach angle of 18.8 degrees, in contrast, the gas truck’s 20.6-degree departure angle is just 1 degree superior to the Ramchargers.
Do you require extreme off-road chops? The gas powered 1500 RHO (Ram Heavy Duty Off-Road) is graced with superior ground clearance wearing Dodge Ram wheels with all-terrain treads and tweaked Dodge Ram 1500 Rebel front bumper. Powertrain Options That Pack a Punch
The Ram full-size trucks are powered by a six-cylinder block nowadays, with the departing snarltastic V8 after the 2024 models. Whereas the gas powered 1500 now wears the Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6, aided by a 48-volt hybrid system, while the vigorous Hurricane 3.0-liter inline six twin-turbocharged is more on the spotlight. Now offered in two intensities. The affordable trims, including the base Tradesman, 2025 Dodge Ram 1500 Big Horn, and off-road oriented Rebel, offer the standard engine output.
Cranking 420 horsepower and 469 lb-ft of torque. While the pricier range toppers Longhorn, Limited, Tungsten and RHO feature dialed-up figures to 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission is mated to every Hurricane, offered with a rear- or all-wheel-drive system. The Ramcharger wears the same Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6 in the bay, but the engine doesn’t work for propelling the wheels. Rather, the 271 hp V-6 producing 226 lb-ft delivers energy for juicing the 400-volt unit with a 69.7 kWh usable capacity. The battery feeds the duo of electric motors, one mated to each axle. The rear motor outputs 333 hp while the front motor dials up the figures to 335 hp, both the motors output 310 lb-ft of torque. The dual motor setup generates 647 hp and 610 lb-ft of torque, making the Ramcharger superior against the mightiest gas-powered 1500.

Power and Range On The Tarmac
Despite the Ramchargers’ performance superiority, their battery unit leaves it quite heavy. Ram notes that Ramcharger 7507 pounds claimed curb weight is contributed by its 1216 pounds battery weight. Despite its heavy weight, the estimated 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds remains quite an achievement. While, according to the Car and Driver testing, the 2025 Ram 1500 crew cab with Hurricane 540 horses block cracked 0-60 mph in just 6.2 seconds, the scale slotted at 5967 pounds.
With decent driving habits, the Ramcharger should give you a few extra miles. According to Ram, the battery is capable of delivering 145 miles of all electric range. With the gas engine working as a generator when it kicks in, the Ramcharger is estimated to deliver 690 miles before needing a fill-up. The gas-only truck equips either a 26 or 36-gallon gas tank. The H/O Hurricane with a four-wheel drive system is estimated to be good for 17 mpg combined by the EPA. When mated to a larger gas tank, it concludes to the calculations of about 610 miles range.
Majority use the Ram’s pick-ups as their daily commuter, both featuring traditional truck cues. However, the Ramcharger does remain superior over the standard gas-powered 1500 for its ultimate capabilities. Ram says that the plug-in hybrid model features a max payload capacity of 2625 lbs and a towing capacity of 14,000 lbs. These figures outshine the gas-powered 1500, featuring 2300 pounds of payload and 11,580 pounds of towing figures. Meanwhile, the Ram 1500 Limited with Crew Cab 4×4 features a similar body style and bed length as the Ramcharger, however its payload and towing figures are substantially lower, rated at 1340 and 9740 lbs accordingly.

Luxurious and Feature-Packed Cabins
Inside the shell, the PHEV and gas-only trucks mirror each other. The minor details include unique button cues around the gear selector for different driving modes for aiding the Ramchargers hybrid power. A 12.0-inch infotainment display remains standard on both trucks, upgradable to a chunkier 14.5-inch display with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.
What more? A 10.3-inch passenger side infotainment display remains optional, and to make things spicier, the interior can be swathed with the genuine leather for a rich aroma. Upgrades including ventilated, heated and massage seats depend upon the trim.

Costing and Availability
So far the Ramcharger pricing has not been disclosed yet. The gas-only Ram 1500 pricing for the base Tradesman Trim slots at $42,270, while the Limited trim rests at $77,150. The range topping Tungsten trim is priced at $89,150. For now, the Ramchargers’ whole lineup has not been unveiled, but we do expect the base trim to cost around $60K. However, in contrast to the 2025 Ramcharger price, the range-topper is expected to nudge over the $100,000 mark. More details regarding pricing should be unveiled in the second half this year, ahead of the deliveries.
